Study Tours / Trips

"How do you teach the frog about the ocean when all he has knows is the pond?"

Tailor made study tours to Hong Kong and the surrounding region are designed for business students such as Executive Masters of Business Administration (EMBA) and Masters of Business Administration (MBA) programs.  They are designed to help participants learn about local business practices in Hong Kong and southern China and develop skills to be more competitive in the global marketplace.

Participants interact with local people, network with local executives, visit pertinent organizations and events, and participate in thought-provoking cultural activities, both in Hong Kong and southern China.

Cultural immersion is complemented by concentrated classroom lectures and local case studies.  Past lectures have included:

§         Cross Cultural Differences;

§         Doing Business in China;

§         The Family Business Phenomenon in greater China;

§         Green Business in China, Comparing China with Japan;

§         Strategy and Information Systems in greater China.

Participants spend at least one day in mainland China.  Past tours have included visits to local factories, participation in local life and interactions with local organizations.

Most participants agree that one of the study tour’s highlights is a joint learning session with local business students.  Study tour participants are linked with local students to help them prepare for a local case study.  By working through the case, study tour participants develop skills to interact with local people and learn more about the local situation.

Hotels, ground transportation, meals and visas can be arranged.
